Innovative Social Work Solutions

At Innovative Social Work Solutions, Sonja draws on the latest research and uses evidence-based practice to help navigate life’s challenges.

Sonja provides a service that’s hopeful and encouraging, by focusing on your strengths, fostering growth and building resilience. Everyone is unique and has their own set of circumstances, however, some of the things we commonly work with are:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder)
  • Relationship problems
  • Bullying at work or school
  • Self-harming
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Personality Disorders

Sonja uses a trauma-informed framework which recognises the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges the role trauma may play in your life. Sonja uses a combination of CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic and EMDR to help process traumatic events and build resilience.

Is your relationship in turmoil?

All relationships go through ups and downs. At Innovative Social Work Solutions, we use the Gottman approach to couple’s therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple relationship and integrates research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory.

Couples who enter into therapy begin with an assessment process that then informs the therapeutic framework and intervention.

The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the couple dynamic.

Some of the issues that might be addressed in couples therapy include:

  • Frequent conflict and arguments
  • Poor communication
  • Emotionally distanced couples who are on the verge of separating
  • Specific problems such as sexual difficulties, infidelity, money and parenting

Counselling may be short-term (6 – 10 sessions), or longer-term (fortnightly or monthly), depending on the issue at hand and your therapy goals.
Medicare rebates are available with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
NDIS and Victims of Crime clients are welcome.

Whatever you are going through, we can help.
